Open Source policy
Enonic is highly committed to open source.
Enonic XP and our developer libraries and components are licensed under Apache 2.0 or GPL 3.0. A selection of our Enonic apps (including Content Studio) are available under the Enonic license.
Apps, libs and starters are all marked with their respective license on Enonic Market, and in their code repository.
Enonic XP
By downloading Enonic XP you agree on the following terms:
- You are free to use, change and re-distribute the software according to license- The software is provided "AS IS" - Enonic accepts no liability, indemnity or warranties

GPL Linking exception means you can create applications on the platform without being subject to licensing them as GPL too.
Derivate work of the platform itself is however subject to the terms of the GPL license.
NB! Commercial licensing is available on demand
Enonic License 2.0
This is an open core / source available license, providing the right to "use, copy, distribute, make available, and prepare derivative works of the software”.
You cannot:
- Circumvent the license key functionality or remove/obscure features protected
- Remove or obscure any licensing, copyright, or other notices
- Build a commercial hosting service around the software
- Agencies building bespoke customer solutions may still offer hosting to 3rd parties.
