Edit and save
Contents
Edit opens content in the Content Editor; Save stores changes to its draft.
Edit
The Edit action opens selected items in the Content Editor. Each selected item opens in its own browser tab.
Opening content
From the Navigator, open content using:
-
Edit in the toolbar after selecting one or more items.
-
Edit in an item’s right-click menu.
-
Double-clicking an item in the content list.
-
⌘ + Eon macOS orCtrl + Eon Windows/Linux for the current selection.
The Content Form reference describes the fields and controls used to edit an item. For saving changes and handling validation, see Save.
Inherited content
Use Edit to open inherited content in a layer as well. If the item’s content data has not been localized, its form is initially read-only. Opening the item does not change its inheritance.
Use Localize inside the Content Editor to enable editing of the inherited content data in the current layer.
Save
Editing takes place in the draft branch. Click Save to store the current changes; the button changes to Saved when there are no unsaved changes. Saving does not publish the content or change the version currently available from the master branch.
Invalid content can be saved. See Saving and validation for continuous validation and how errors appear in the editor.
The most common actions also have keyboard shortcuts, including saving the current item.
